Benefits of Omega 3

Not only is omega 3 oil good for your heart, blood pressure, cholesterol level, joint and brain, it is also good for your eyes. Omega 3 oil plays a significant role in dry eye disease. Unless you are eating deep sea fish everyday, you are not getting enough omega 3 oil in your diet. Flaxseed oil is no substitute for fish oil as only about 15% of the omega 3 from flaxseed can be utilized by the body. An omega 3 fish oil supplement is necessary for most people.

Forms of Omega 3

However, not all types omega 3 oil from fish are created equal. After omega 3 oil is extracted from fishes, heavy metal like mercury needs to be removed. During this molecular distillation process, the omega 3 oil is converted to an alcohol based form. The bioavailability of an alcohol based omega 3 is only 60% as the body recognizes that it is a “processed” fish oil. A good omega 3 fish oil supplement would require an extra step, re-esterification, to convert it back to the original triglyceride form so the body thinks that you are actually eating fish.
